Hello FEO Families,

This past week we had the opportunity to showcase the incredible talents of our Fine Arts and CTF students during the Winter Gala. The drama team put together an incredible show "Welcome to Candy Kingdom" and the Farmer's market was a resounding success! Thank you to all the families who came and support our students!

Next week kicks of another spirit week here at FEO to conclude the final week before the Winter Break. This past week the staff surprised students with various costumes and themes as they held a "secret" staff spirit week. Students confusion turned to smiles when all teachers were dressed in white or on another day, dressed like a Christmas Tree!

Notice Regarding Changes to Spanish Bilingual Schools

Due to continued enrolment growth in Calgary, there is a need to balance enrolment between schools in northwest Calgary.

Effective for the 2025-26 school year, the following grade configuration changes will be implemented:

  • Collingwood, Dalhousie, and W. O. Mitchell Schools will change from a kindergarten to Grade 5 configuration to a kindergarten to Grade 6 configuration for the Spanish Bilingual program. This will allow more Spanish Bilingual program students to attend a school closer to home.
  • Senator Patrick Burns School will change from a Grade 6 to 9 configuration for the Spanish Bilingual program to a Grade 7 to 9 configuration. This will align the Spanish Bilingual and Regular programs to be the same grade configurations.

2025/2026 School Calendar

The 2025-2026 school calendar has been finalized and posted.

The first day of school for students is:

  • Tuesday, Sep. 2, 2025

Feedback regarding students starting prior to September long weekend was taken into consideration for the 2025-2026 school year. In years where labour day falls later into September, such as it does for 2026 (Sep. 7) starting after the long weekend may not be possible; instructional calendars take into consideration Fall break, the timing of January diploma exams set by Alberta Education, and the balance of instructional days between semesters. December Celebrations and Days of Significance

BP School is committed to building a culture of appreciation and inclusion, where students and staff can see themselves valued, respected and celebrated. The CBE invites communities to view the following calendar which identifies some of the significant  days of recognition and celebration within the wider community.

CBE Dates of Significance

This season, we highlight that some of our families will be celebrating:

  • Salgirah Khushiali (Dec.13)
  • Winter Solstice (Dec. 21)
  • Christmas (Dec. 25)
  • Hanukkah (Dec. 25-Jan.2)
  • Kwanzaa (Dec. 26)

School Development Plan

Alberta Education requires each school to create a plan to improve student learning. The School Development Plan (SDP) aligns individual school goals with the identified goals in CBE Education Plan | 2024 - 2027. Each year, schools capture evidence of continuous improvement towards the goals set. In accordance with Alberta Education’s Requirements for School Authority Planning and Results Reporting, schools then provide assurance to school communities by communicating student growth and achievement in an annual report that demonstrates improvement results and next steps. These results support continuous improvement of the quality and effectiveness of education programs provided to students while also improving student learning and achievement. You can read our SDP here.
