Hello FEO Eagle Families!
We are thrilled to welcome back students to FEO tomorrow morning. School resumes at 8:10 AM with Grade 8 and 9 students going to their homerooms and Grade 6 and 7 students proceeding to the gymnasium. Here is some important information:
- Student schedules are available now through PowerSchool. Students will also receive a paper copy of their schedule in their homeroom.
- Staff will be circulating to support students finding their homerooms!
- Requests for option changes will begin on September 3, 2024. Students will be provided a form at the school for option change requests. Due to high enrolment numbers, not all requests can be accommodated.
- Homeroom or core class changes will not be accepted.
Mobile Device Policy
You may have heard that cell phones and other devices will be restricted in schools this year. Personal mobile devices include any device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet, such as a cell phone, tablet, gaming device, laptop or smartwatch. This also includes devices capable of communicating with a mobile device such as headphones and Bluetooth devices (e.g. earbuds, airpods and speakers.)
These new rules will apply to all students, with exceptions for students using devices for health and medical needs, to support specialized learning needs and for educational purposes.
- FEO Students will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks, lockers or areas designated by teachers or better yet - simply left at home.
- FEO will be using CBE technology (Laptops, Chromebooks, iPads and computer labs) and will not be using student devices in-class.
- If a student is found to be using a personal mobile device in class without permission from the teacher, FEO Staff and Administration will work with the student to ensure the rules are understood. We rely on good communication and other existing processes to ensure students know what is expected.
- Positive results have already been seen within schools that have implemented similar measures in recent years. Our goal is to improve student achievement and well-being with a focused and supportive learning environment.
The Student Personal Mobile Devices policy will be in place for the first day of school.
Calgary Pride Week
The CBE prioritizes respect for diversity and creating welcoming, caring, respectful and safe inclusive environments for all students and families. Here at FEO, we have honoured and recognized our unique community with events such as Orange Shirt Day and Black History month.
August 26- September 1 is Pride Week in Calgary, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. This year, CBE reaffirms our commitment to creating safe and caring learning and work environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff.
Labour Day | School Closed
FEO will be closed (no classes for students) on September 2 for Labour Day.
