General Health Measures

In all matters of health, CBE takes direction from Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services. Find out how you can reduce the spread and lessen the impact of illness in school communities.

Routine Immunizations

The CBE supports the AHS school-based immunization program.

Medical Room

The Medical Room may be used for students who are ill and waiting for a parent to pick them up and take them home. Access to the medical room is made through the main office. If a student requests some time in the Medical Room he/she must check with the teacher with whom he/she is currently working for permission to come to the office.

Students will be left in the medical room for no longer than 20 minutes. At that time they will phone home for someone to come and get them or return to class. Certified First Aid staff members are available to assist students who are injured at school.

Medication

At no time will a staff member give any kind of medication to a student. Also, students should not be sharing medications.

Lice

There may be times during the school year when we have cases of head lice.

If your child has head lice, please contact the school and let us know. If your child has been exposed to lice at school we will notify you.

As a precaution, we ask all parents to check their child’s head frequently for a few weeks after any exposure. You can find more information on lice from myhealth.alberta.ca.
