Hello FEO Eagle Families,

What an incredible week it’s been at FEO! We’re thrilled to share the energy and excitement that filled our halls as we kicked off the year with two amazing Pep Rallies. These events were a joyful celebration of school spirit, bringing students and staff together to build community, and set the tone for a year full of Eagle pride and positivity.

Friday marked another exciting milestone—our very first Friday Eagle Time! This new homeroom period is dedicated to helping students grow their interpersonal skills and build meaningful connections. We’ve launched the Owning Up program by Rosalind Wiseman, a powerful curriculum designed to empower students in grades 6–12 to recognize and take responsibility for social issues such as bullying and injustice. Through engaging discussions, games, and role-playing activities in small groups, students will explore social dynamics, media influence, and ethical behavior—all while fostering a culture of dignity and respect.

As we begin our athletic seasons, we want to remind families of the importance of completing the Annual Authorization for Athletic Try-Outs. This form is required for any student wishing to participate in school sports. Without it, students will not be permitted to try out or take part in team activities. Please ensure this authorization is submitted as soon as possible. More information and access to the form can be found below (see Update | ATHLETICS).

Thank you for your continued support. We wish you a wonderful weekend and are already looking forward to welcoming students back on Monday for another great week!

Warm regards,
Dr. Michael Cutler | Principal

Update | ATHLETICS

Please ensure that your child comes prepared with appropriate athletic attire, water, and a signed copy of the Annual Authorization for Athletic Tryout (you can check off all the sports you would want for your child to try out for the whole year- this way you will avoid signing multiple forms for multiple sports)

We encourage all interested students to participate, regardless of their experience level. It’s a great way for them to challenge themselves and be part of our school spirit!

Picture Day | September 11, 2025

Mark your calendars — Student Picture Day is Thursday, September 11!
It’s time to dress your best and bring your brightest smiles.
Let’s capture those amazing moments that will last a lifetime!

Say cheese! 🧀✨

Complementary Course | Change Requests

Complementary course change requests for Semesters 1 and 2 are now open — but only until Wednesday, September 10!

If you're hoping to switch things up, you can fill out a Course Change Request Form located just outside the Main Office during lunch or after school.

🔔 Important Reminder: Submitting a request does not guarantee a change — but we’ll do our best to accommodate where possible!

eScooters | Safe Storage

We’re thrilled to see so many of our students commuting to school on bicycles and scooters—including electric ones! It’s a great way to stay active and environmentally conscious.

However, we’d like to remind families that we do not have indoor storage space available for bikes or scooters. Students will need to use the designated bike racks located outside the school. To help keep their belongings safe, please ensure that all bikes and scooters are secured with a sturdy lock.

Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us keep our school safe and organized!

Backpack & Essentials Campaign Gives Students a Fresh Start for the New School Year

The impact our community partners have on students will be long lasting as students receive a full backpack on their first day of school that they can carry with them for the whole year.

EducationMatters, Calgary’s Public Education Trust, collaborated with the Calgary Police Youth Foundation and members of Calgary Police Services along with dozens of volunteers to assemble more than 2,000 backpacks with school supplies for CBE students.

"Yesterday’s Backpack Campaign event was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when the community comes together. Through the collaborative efforts of volunteers, partners, and donors, more than two thousand students are being set up for success, not only prepared with essential school supplies but with the encouragement to dream big, do big, and go big." - Stephanie Washbrook, Executive Director of EducationMatters.

The backpacks will be provided to CBE schools across Calgary and given to students in need to create a positive start to the new school year. EducationMatters stepped up with critical support from the community to ensure that every child from kindergarten to Grade 12 has access to essential supplies for learning whether they’re in school or at home.

PADS | Assistance Dogs

We’re also thrilled to share that FEO will be welcoming a PADS service dog named Asti into our school community! Asti will be visiting the school office intermittently to provide support to students who benefit from the presence of a service animal. This is a wonderful opportunity to enhance our inclusive environment and offer additional emotional and social support to those who need it. We’re excited about the positive impact Asti will have on our students and staff alike!
