Hello FEO Eagle Families,

Week at a Glance Nov. 2 6

This past week truly showcased the spirit and energy of our F.E. Osborne community. From our exciting Halloween celebrations to the incredible annual Haunted House tradition and school-wide Pep Rally, students and staff enjoyed many opportunities to come together, have fun, and celebrate. Thank you to everyone who helped organize these memorable events and to our students for their enthusiasm and positive participation. I hope all of our families enjoyed a wonderful Halloween weekend with friends and loved ones.

As we move into November, our attention is turning toward several important upcoming events. Staff and students are busy preparing for our Remembrance Day observation, a meaningful opportunity to honour and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who have served our country. We look forward to coming together as a school community to recognize the significance of this day.

I would also like to remind families that Fall Break begins on November 11. Classes will resume on Monday, November 16. We hope students and families enjoy this time to rest, recharge, and spend time together.

Looking ahead, our first round of Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place later this month:

  • November 26 (In-Person): 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • November 27 (Online): 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Conference booking will open on November 9. These conferences provide an excellent opportunity to connect with your child's teachers, celebrate successes, and discuss goals for the remainder of the school year.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to another productive and engaging month at F.E. Osborne School.

Warm regards,
Dr. Michael Cutler
Principal | F.E. Osborne

REMINDER | Off-Campus Food & Beverage

We would like to provide a quick reminder about food and drinks purchased off-campus at lunch. These should generally be consumed during the lunch break before returning to school. In particular, we do not allow slurpees, milkshakes, frappuccinos, etc. into the school due to issues with spills and with unfinished drinks left in lockers. Also, students are not allowed to consume energy drinks at school at any time, due to the negative impact on learning of very large volumes of sugar and caffeine. These policies are aligned with current research and with the CBE's commitment to provide students with the skills, opportunities and encouragement they need to adopt healthy eating patterns. Thank you for your support in both of these areas.

FEO Career Fair

On November 4, Grade 9 students will have the opportunity to participate in Take Our Kids to Work Day, an annual event that allows students to explore the world of work by accompanying a parent, guardian, family member, or family friend to their workplace. The experience provides valuable insight into different careers, workplace expectations, and the skills required in a variety of professions.

We recognize that not all students will be participating in a workplace visit on that day. For students who will be attending school, we would like to offer a Career Fair and Career Exploration Day featuring presentations from community members representing a variety of occupations and industries.

To help us determine whether this is feasible, we are looking to gauge interest from parents, guardians, and family members who may be willing to spend some time with our students on November 4 and share information about their career journey. Presenters could discuss topics such as:

  • What they do in their role
  • Their educational and career pathway
  • Skills that are important in their field
  • A typical day at work
  • Advice for students considering future careers

We are particularly interested in showcasing a diverse range of careers and experiences so that students can learn about the many pathways available to them.

If you, or a family member, would be interested in participating as a Career Fair presenter, please complete the following form: F.E.O Career Exploration Fair.

Your involvement would help make this a meaningful and engaging experience for our students as they begin to think about their future goals and opportunities.
