Hello FEO Eagle Families,

Once again PAT season has arrived at FEO. Next week our Grade 6 & 9 students will be writing their English Language Arts Part A exam and our French Immersion students will be writing their French Language Arts Part A. For the upcoming PAT schedule, please see the chart below or the FEO Calendar.

A huge congratulations to the FEO Grade 9 Concert band who were awarded a “Superior” ranking at the Red Deer festival this past week. This is the highest possible rating that a concert band can receive and is an incredible achievement. Congratulations to Ms. Therrien and our incredible young musicians!

I also want to wish safe travels and bon voyage to our sailing trip students as they prepare for their departure next Monday! Thank you to Mr. Koch, Dr. Johal and Mr. Baez for supporting our young sailers on this trip.

I would also like to bring your attention to a Tik Tok trends that is circulating right now where students damage computers but inserting paper clips and/or pencils into the device. We have been very fortunate at FEO to not be effected by this trend yet and I sincerely hope that we will not have any incidents.

MATH 15 | Enrolment Deadline May 26th

This course is focused on improving student mastery of mathematical skills, concepts and ideas. Students will build numeracy through thinking critically, identifying and solving complex problems, and demonstrating good communication skills. Learners will engage in collaborative tasks and formative assessments designed to develop student agency and independence while acquiring mathematical knowledge. The content focus is Grades 7 through 9 math curriculum as this forms the basis for higher level math courses. No Mathematics 10C course material will be covered.

If you are interested in your student in taking the Math 15 Summer School Course, please review the information below. If you feel this would be a good fit for your learner, please reply to Dr. Cutler (mjcutler@cbe.ab.ca) by 3:00 PM on May 26th. I request will be submitted to CBe-Learn for your students placement. Please note that there is a possibility that not all students will be accepted due to enrollment numbers. Decisions made for enrollment are made by CBe-Learn and not FEO unfortunately.

Winter Clothing Drive | Grade 9 Leadership

For any families doing some spring cleaning, FEO’s grade 9 leadership class is collecting gently used winter clothing from May 26th to June 6th. If you have coats, mittens, scarves, or other warm items you’re no longer using, please send them to school with your child. All donations will go to local donation centres.

Trends in Vaping

A troubling trend in the world of vaping is the release of vapes that resemble children’s juice boxes. Together, with family support, FEO strives to be a vape free environment but there is still work to be done. We have seen a dramatic decrease in incidents of vandalism and vaping in our washrooms with the removal of the exterior entrance door. However, vaping is still occurring amongst our student population.
