Hello FEO Eagle Families,
As we head into the May long weekend, I wanted to provide a few important updates on the upcoming Grade 9 Farewell. Thank you to the FEO School Council for their support, dedication and organization of this amazing event! In depth details are listed below.
We are approaching Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) at the end of May. This can be a time that brings higher than usual stress for students. Please check in on your students and don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything that we can do to support. We will be hosting a service dog in the office intermittently for the remainder of May and June - this can be a great source of comfort for students. As we will be doing at the school, please remind your student to come visit the office if they need some time with "Asti."
As always, for the most up-to-date information regarding the happenings at FEO, please visit our FEO School Calendar
I hope that you have a wonderful long weekend, classes resume on May 20, 2025.

Suggested Dress
This is not a formal event. Business casual or smart casual attire is recommended. There will be quite a bit of walking, so please ensure students wear comfortable shoes. Since the evening can get chilly, we suggest bringing a sweater or jacket and dressing for the weather.
Cost & RSVP
The cost per student is $50.00. Thanks to the generosity of the Parent Council, this event has been subsidized, allowing us to offer this reduced price for each student. We are encouraging every Grade 9 student to attend, and if you require financial support in order for your child to participate, please email the Farewell Committee, and we will ensure that your student can attend.
To make payment (which confirms your child's attendance), please send e-transfer to feograde9farewell@gmail.com with your child's first and last name in the message box. OR, bring cash in an envelope to school, with your child's first and last name, and homeroom on the envelope. Cash payments can be dropped off in the office. Once you submit your payment, your student will be added to the list and will only need to check in with a volunteer at the park upon arrival.
If you would like to make an additional donation with your payment to help cover the cost to ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to attend, it would be greatly appreciated.
Please RSVP and make payment as soon as possible, as we need to submit final numbers to the venue. Tickets must be purchased no later than the end of day on June 2nd. Your timely response is greatly appreciated.
Volunteers Needed
We welcome parent volunteers to help supervise the event and support our students. If you’re interested in volunteering, please email the Farewell Committee as soon as possible, and include the following information:
- Your full name
- Your child’s name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
Please note you do NOT need to have current volunteer clearance through the school to volunteer at this event.
Behavior Expectations
We ask that you please take a moment to talk to your child about the importance of behaving appropriately and respectfully during the event. This is a special evening for them to celebrate their accomplishments, and we expect them to represent themselves, their school, and their families with pride. Additionally, please remind your child to be respectful to parent volunteers and teachers who are generously giving up their evening to make this event possible.
If you are available to volunteer for this event, have any questions, need financial support, or require a special meal due to allergies, please email the Farewell Committee at feograde9farewell@gmail.com.
We look forward to celebrating this milestone with our Grade 9 students and making this event a memorable one for them!
FEO Social Media | X
Due to low engagement on the X platform, I will discontinue providing updates on the platform at the end of this school year. You can always find us on Instagram @FE.Osborne_CBE
Personal Mobile Device Reminder
The ministerial order for personal mobile devices (PMDs) is still in effect. We ask that families review the expectation with their students that all PMD's are to be stored in lockers, powered down during the school day. This includes lunch time. If students wish to access their PMDs at lunch it must be off of school property.
inform | Tik Tok Trends
We often see Tik Tok trends become more popular at this point in the school year and I wanted to make families aware of the "One Chip Challenge." This involves eating a very spicy chip that can result in nausea, cramps and searing pain in their mouths and throats. The chip has been discontinued by the company and I am hopeful that this will prevent incidents at schools.
Good Citizenship in the Varsity Community
As the spring weather improves, more students are active in the neighbourhood over the lunch break. We regularly instruct students about their responsibilities for making positive choices and for representing the school in a favourable way. Families are requested to reinforce similar messages at home, specifically with respect to:
- Placing waste in the correct receptacles
- Respecting neighbour private property
- Behaving in an orderly way in the shops and restaurants surrounding the school
- Exercising safety and respect when accessing Calgary Transit
Students should be aware that the CBE Student Code of Conduct applies to all any activities that takes place within the school day, including on commutes to and from school, and over the lunch hour.
CBE 2025-2026 Calendar
As FEO families plan their lives, including travel, we request consideration of the published CBE calendar of non-instructional days:
2025-2026 CBE Instructional Calendar
Note that the first day of school is on Tues. Sept. 2, 2025 (after the August long weekend). Similar to this school year, a Fall Break has been set in November, in addition to the customary Winter and Spring breaks. Maintaining regular school attendance, and planning travel during scheduled breaks, is vital to success in learning and social development. if you know your current grade 7/8 student will not be returning to FEO next year, please email FEOsborne@cbe.ab.ca and let us know as soon as possible
