Hello FEO Families!
It has hard to believe that we are already heading into March! We had a wonderful time welcoming families into the school this past week for parent teacher conferences. I want to extend a big thank you to the FEO School Council for feeding our teachers on Thursday night. It is a long day for our teachers and food is always welcome!
As we conclude the first week of the CUPE 40 strike, I wanted to let you know what a great job our students are doing in cleaning up after themselves. Our building is not as sparkly clean as we are accustomed to, but our students' efforts are noticeable and appreciated.
We also recognized "Pink Shirt Day" on Wednesday which gave our students a moment to pause and reflect on how we are treating each other. Positive or negative, we all contribute to our learning community in ways that resonate far beyond what we may realize. Pink Shirt Day is a time that we can reflect on the kind of contributions we make to our community.
I also want to acknowledge that there have been some discrepancies in the messaging from the CBE regarding activities that are allowed to continue during the strike. The CBE is currently working through the issue of Fine Arts rehearsals, they recognize the discrepancy in messaging and are discussing next steps. As a Band Director myself, I empathize with how difficult this is, cancelling a rehearsal is never an easy thing to do! Our key concern is always the safety of students and staff and I await further instruction regarding the 6:00 PM time frame. I hope to be able to communicate these instructions to you as soon as I receive them.
I hope that you and your families have a wonderful weekend, please see below for other important dates and happenings at FEO

2024-25 Alberta Education Assurance Survey Open Online Feb. 18 – March 21.
Every school year, Alberta Education surveys students, parents, and teachers to get feedback on schools. This helps us understand what’s working well and identify areas for improvement.
The Alberta Education Assurance Survey (AEAS) asks students in Grades 4, 7, and 10, along with their parents, to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in school.
Don’t miss this chance to have your voice heard! The AEAS is open from Feb. 18 to March 21, 2025.
Survey Details
Completing the survey is easy. Families will receive a unique, single-use access code to access the survey.
If you have multiple children in the relevant survey grades, you will receive a separate code for each child.
Once you have your access code, simply visit the AEAS page to complete the online survey confidentially.
Students are surveyed during the same time frame as their parents or guardians, but they typically fill out their surveys at school.
More Information
Further details are available in the Parent Notification Letter.
If you have any questions or would like a paper copy of the survey, please contact the principal of your child’s school after Feb. 18.
By participating in the AEAS, you are helping to shape the future of education in Alberta.
