Dear Families of FEO,

I want to communicate with you some staffing changes that will occur for the start of next week.  I would like to begin by congratulating Mr. Hakun Trinh on his retirement. Mr. Trinh spent over a decade of his career at FEO with many highlights including coaching the Sr. Boys Basketball team to the City Championship last year. We wish him a wonderful next chapter and with gratitude, thank him for the many years he devoted to our learning community.

Due to declining enrolment since the start of the school year, we will not be able to fill Mr. Trinh’s position. As such, it is necessary that we adjust our teaching schedule and homeroom assignments to balance class sizes. These changes are being updated over the weekend and will be available on PowerSchool next Monday, September 30th.

On October 1st students will meet in their homeroom classes for period 1 to receive their adjusted timetables. Homeroom assignments will be posted for students as they enter the building in addition to being available on PowerSchool the day before.

Student success is at the centre of all our decisions. Every student should have the opportunity to succeed personally and academically, regardless of their background, identity or personal circumstances. Achieving student success requires commitment and collaboration from every part of our community – students, teachers, and families. I want to thank you for your commitment to students and our learning community.

FEO Sports

We are excited to invite students/parents to our junior and senior basketball teams home games this season at FEO. We kindly ask you review and respect these rules consistent with schools across our division to ensure safety of athletes and spectators:

  • Spectators are to cheer in a positive manner
  • No unparented FEO students are to attend games hosted at other schools. The same rule applies to student spectators from other schools attending games at FEO as well. Non student athletes who are dropped off will not be given access to FEO.
  • Parents are expected to assume active supervision of their children who are watching, and all spectators are expected to remain in the gymnasium unless using the washroom
  • Parents attending Away games with their own child are asked to care for no more students than you have seatbelts in your vehicle. This is to prevent parents from being “responsible” for students they did not bring with them to an Away game or that they do not know. We kindly ask you respect this rule at other schools.

We appreciate your support and lets show our Eagle Pride to our hardworking athletes on all our teams this season!

Please check the FEO School Calendar for practice schedules and games.

FEO School Council

One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority defined within the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation.

Next Meeting: October 8, 2024 on MS Teams (Link will be sent to all families on the meeting day)

Fun Lunch Committee

FEO and the Fun Lunch Committee are very excited to continue this year with the online fun lunch program called "Healthy Hunger." Information regarding the program was sent out to parents this week, however, if you did not receive this information it means that you are not signed up for commercial notifications from the school. Please reach out to the school (feosborne@cbe.ab.ca) if you would like more information. You can also change your email subscription setting HERE to receive these updates in the future.
