Hello FEO Eagle Families! 

Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) season is fast approaching, and staff and students have been busy preparing! This year, Alberta Education has moved the PATs to Vretta, a new digital platform, so long gone are the days of paper and bubble sheets! FEO Grade 7 Concert Band 

The grade 7 concert band had the privilege of performing at the Jubilee Auditorium at the invitation of William Aberhart High School. Under the direction of Ms. Therrien, the band played beautifully and shared the incredible talents of our student musicians with a broader audience on an incredible stage. Bravo Grade 7s and Ms. Therrien! 

Grade 9 Farewell Celebrations 

The FEO planning committee is pleased to announce our Grade 9 Farewell Celebration on June 14, 2024, from 1:30-4:30 at FEO. A dance will be held for Grade 9 students from 1:30-3:30. We invite parents to come at 3:30 to join their student for food trucks, a photo booth, and other opportunities for pictures to celebrate our Grade 9s.

Our in-person Annual General Meeting (AGM) is fast approaching and will be the last School Council meeting of the year. Please come and share your voice at FEO as we plan for next year! 

Away for the Day | Mobile Phone Policy 

Studies reveal the potential for negative outcomes on academic success. 

• 16-year-old students saw their tests score increase by 6.4% after schools banned phones. 
• Test scores decreased by 10.6% among students who were regularly interrupted by text messages. 
• In comparison to 2012, twice as many teens and tweens felt lonely in 2018 with girls reporting higher levels of loneliness than boys.

FEO Concert Band Disneyland Tour | 2024-25 

On May 2, we had a chance to meet and discuss the initial planning for the FEO Disneyland Band Tour. This trip is open to all band students who will be in the Grade 8 and Grade 9 Concert Band program next year (2024-25). Currently, we are planning for the dates of May 2-7, 2025, with a total estimated cost of $3400.00.  The total cost will vary but we do not expect it to exceed this estimated total. The more students who participate in the trip, the lower the cost will be. 

**Please note that we have several other trips in the planning stages but have not yet received approval to proceed. I am optimistic that, by the end of May, we will have answers regarding the trips we will be allowed to proceed with. Please stay tuned for more information towards the end of the month!
